In December 2013, Beyoncé launched her namesake secret album on iTunes at midnight, immediately sending the music industry and the internet into a frenzy. In tandem with the album launch, Maui worked in secret to relaunch the new simultaneously. The new website featured 17 new music videos, exclusive photography, behind the scenes footage and lyrics from the album. It also served as an aggregate of all of Beyoncé’s social media channels. To do this we built a custom content management system on our gemgento platform that enabled the team to manage content from every channel on one secure platform. In the first 24 hours, the website received 20 million unique visitors–no crashes or no leaks. In April 2014, Maui received the People's Choice Webby Award for our work on this project.
